Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008 Jean Keefer Jean Keefer, 79, Oskaloosa, died Sept. 23, 2008, at Stormont-Vail Hospital, Topeka. She was born Nov. 24, 1928, in Lawrence, the daughter of Harvey Howard and Amy Ruth Haling Miskimen. She grew up in Vinland and graduated from Vinland High School. She worked for Rusty’s IGA and was employed as a school bus driver. She retired from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department in 1996 as a process server. She then went to work for Capitol Federal until 2001. Mrs. Keefer was a member of the Ladies Shrine Club and Beta Sigma Phi. She married Arthur W. “Bill” Keefer Dec. 16, 1950, in Lawrence. He survives of the home. Other survivors include, two daughters, Bonnie Kern, Perry, and Carol Keefer, Oskaloosa; two sons, Gary Keefer and Terry Keefer, both Lawrence; two sisters, Grace Oshel, Lawrence, and Phyllis Harris, Littleton, Colo.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services were Sept. 29 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Interment was at the Clinton Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Cooper’s Cause Foundation and sent in care of the Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Dorothy Marks Dorothy M. Marks, 93, Eudora, died Sept. 25, 2008, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. She was born July 17, 1915, in Manhattan, the daughter of Willard Austin and Alice Mae Barry Moyer. She received a bachelor’s degree from Washburn University in 1962. Mrs. Marks was a teacher and had taught in Oskaloosa. She was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority and Newcomers. She received a Master Teacher Award and Outstanding Teacher Award. She was a volunteer for Let’s Help, Cappers Children’s Foundation and Sacred Heart Grade School. She was also a poet, author and musician. She married Vincent Paul Marks Aug. 20, 1940, in Ogden. He died Feb. 23, 1979. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, a sister and a great-grandson. Survivors include four daughters, Judith Engroff, Del Ray Beach, Fla., Janice Walthall, Lawrence, Susan Engroff, Phoenix, and Teresa Mabie, Olathe; a son, Willard Thomas Marks; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Harry Moyer, Lawrence. Mass of Christian Burial was Sept. 27 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Burial was at St. Patrick Cemetery in Ogden. Patsy Jean Robb Patsy Jean Robb, 68, of Lawrence, died Friday September 26, at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital. She was born July 18th, 1940 the daughter of Charlie and Irene Belle Davis Yeager. Patsy graduated from Liberty Memorial High School. She Married William “Dale” Robb on Feb. 4, 1971 in Lawrence, KS. Patsy was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband William “Dale” Robb of the home, three sons, Daniel Landis of Lawrence, Kevin Robb and Brian Robb both of Perry, Kansas and a daughter Sue Junken of Joplin, MO., and a brother Ben Yeager, Eudora, KS., 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Tony Robb. Online condolences can be made at www.barnettchapeloaks.com. 15-1tc George Wampler George R. Wampler, 79, Nortonville, formerly of Winchester, died Sept. 27, 2008, at his home in Nortonville. He was born June 9, 1929, at Dearborn, Mo., the son of Joseph and Emma Cardwell Wampler. He had lived in Nortonville since December 2007, moving from Winchester where he had lived several years. Mr. Wampler worked as a plumber for 21 years at the University of Kansas campus in Lawrence, retiring in 1991. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran serving from 1946 to 1949. He married Betty G. Gorden July 24, 1949, at Denver. She survives at the home. Also surviving are four sons, George “Ronnie” Wampler, Kansas City, Joe Wampler, Oskaloosa, Randy Wampler, Winchester, and Jeff Wampler, Lawrence; five daughters, Barbara Reed, Oskaloosa, Geny George, Sabetha, Lori Harden, Valley Falls, Linda Hubbard, Winchester, and Diana Johnson, Oskaloosa; one brother, Lloyd Wampler, Lawrence; two sisters, Beulah Vesco, Rock Springs, Wyo., and Mary Rose Honecutt, Russellville, Ark.; 29 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, one great-grandson, three brothers, and three sisters. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Barnett-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Oskaloosa.
