Grace Ann Dunn

Grace Ann Dunn, 62, Meriden, died Aug. 14, 2008, at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka.

She was born March 7, 1946, at Topeka, the daughter of Raymond Howard and Lizzie Anna Janssen Hemme. She was a 1964 graduate of Perry Rural High School.

She had lived in Meriden since 1991. Grace Ann had worked as an account supervisor for Blue Cross & Blue Shield Company in Topeka for over 30 years, retiring in 2003. She presently worked part-time as an office assistant for Farm Bureau Insurance in Meriden. She was a member of the Meriden Community Church and Meriden Antique Engine and Thresher's Association.

She was married to John Edward Dunn June 29, 1991, at Meriden. He survives at the home. Other survivors include a son, Chris Hill, Lewisville, Texas; a daughter, Chasitie Hill, Burleson, Texas; three stepdaughters, Jennifer Wells, Denison, Victoria Rice, Golf, and Monica Tinoco, Holton; a brother, Paul Hemme, Perry; a sister, Doris Hemme, Topeka; one granddaughter; 11 stepgrandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a brother, David Hemme.

A Celebration of Life was held Aug. 19 at the Meriden Community Church. Burial was at Newman-Rose Hill Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Meriden Community Church Building Fund and sent in care of the Barnett-Chapel Oaks Meriden Chapel, P.O. Box 331, Meriden, 66512.

Keith Prescott

Keith D. Prescott, 71, Larned, died Aug. 15, 2008, at the Hays Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 1, 1936, in Stafford County, the son of Lawrence Donaldson and Alpha Lenore Harman Prescott.

He was a mechanic and service manager at Ark Valley Implement and Chance Cadillac dealership, both of Larned. He was a member of the Church of Christ, Larned, Senior Companion Program, and served in the Navy from 1954 to 1958.

He married Beverly A. Dirks Oct. 18, 1959, at the Mennonite Church in Pawnee Rock. She survives. Other survivors include three sons, Brian Prescott, Hudson, Michael Prescott, Meriden, and Faron Prescott, Hays; a daughter, Sabra Dupuis, Larned; two brothers, Don Prescott, Larned, and Daryl Prescott, Garfield; two sisters, Doneva Sparks, Junction City, and Valeta Mantz, Garfield; and 10 grandchildren.

The funeral was Aug. 18 at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned. Burial was in the Larned Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Maude Carpenter Children Home or Senior Companion Program and sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 477, Larned, 67550.

Mickey Beach

Mickey Beach, 79, Ozawkie, formerly of Topeka, died Aug. 13, 2008, at a hospital in Topeka.

He was born April 14, 1929, in Meade to Lyman Lewis and Emma Marry Dietz Beach. He married Shirley Louise Erwin April 6, 1952. She survives of the home.

Mr. Beach worked for AT&SF Railroad as a freight carman. He was preceded in death by his son, David Beach; two brothers, Leonard and Lyman Beach; and a grandson, Matthew N. Beach.

Mr. Beach was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 14.

Other survivors include two children, Lorin N. Beach, Topeka, and Lewis R. Beach, Laughlin, Nev.; four grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Mr. Beach has been cremated under the direction of the Kansas Cremation Society. Memorials can be made to the Jefferson County Humane Society.

Glen Eickman

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, for Glen "Pete" Eickman at Way of the Cross United Methodist Church in Ozawkie.

Mr. Eickman, 79, Ozawkie, died July 29, 2008. Services were held in Belleville Aug. 1. He was born in Chester, Neb., May 21, 1929, to Charley Eickmann and Nora Rieke Eickmann.

He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad out of Marysville. In 1987 he was elected as general chairman for the United Transportation Union where he served until his retirement in 1998.

He married Ruby Horak May 29, 1955, in Munden. She survives of the home. He was a member of the Ozawkie United Methodist Church, American Legion Post No. 163, Marysville, and Belleville Masonic Lodge No 129 AF&AM. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Samantha Eickmann; four brothers, Oland Eickmann, Frederick Eickmann, Bill Eickmann, and Howard Eickmann. Other survivors include two sons, Bruce Eickmann, Basehor, and Kevin Eickmann, Cincinnati, Ohio; two grandchilren; three great-grandchilren; one sister, Arlene Mohr-Howland, Topeka; and one brother, Keith Eickmann, Superior, Neb.

Burial was in the Belleville Cemetery, Belleville, Kansas. Memorials can be made to Jefferson County Hospice or the Ozawkie United Methodist Church. Belleville services were under the direction of the Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart-Surber Funeral Home.

Rose O'Neill

Rose K. O'Neill, 86, Winchester, died Aug. 15, 2008, at her home at Jefferson Suites in Winchester.

She was born Jan. 7, 1922, at Boyle, west of Winchester, the daughter of Ross B. and Lola Sloop Keys. She graduated from Winchester Rural High School in 1939.

She married John T. O'Neill March 5, 1940, at Winchester. They farmed and raised livestock south of Winchester and later tested dairy cows for the Dairy Herd Improvement Association.

Mrs. O'Neill was a homemaker and had worked in medical records at the Jefferson County Memorial Hospital. She was a lifetime member of the Winchester Reformed Presbyterian Church and had served as the national president of the Reformed Presbyterian Women's Missionary Fellowship. She was active in many community and county organizations. She coached the Winchester High School girls' basketball team for two years and was a state and local officer of the Young Women's Christian Association.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John, Sept. 4, 2007, and a sister, Ruth Clark. Survivors include a son, Jerry O'Neill, Pittsburgh, Pa; three daughters, Linda Henry, Vadnais Heights, Minn., Bonnie Meyer, Palatine, Ill., and Rita Lyon, Winchester; a sister, Edith Duguid, Winchester; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was Aug. 19 at the Winchester Reformed Presbyterian Church. Burial was at the Reformed Presbyterian Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Jefferson County Memorial Hospital or to the Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary and sent in care of Mercer Funeral Home, 810 Broadway, Valley Falls, 66088.
