Marcelene Noll Trainer, 71, of the Mooney Creek community and a former longtime Atchison resident, died July 31, 2008, at her home. She was born Oct. 31, 1936, in Mooney Creek to Alvera E. Schrick and August A. Noll. She attended Oak Grove grade school in Mooney Creek and graduated from Mt. St. Scholastica Academy in 1954. She remained a resident of Atchison for more than 35 years, until she moved back to Mooney Creek in 1992. Marcelene made taking care of others her life's work. For years she was a childcare provider for many children in the Atchison area. She married Clarence "Bud" Trainer in Atchison Dec. 16, 1983. He survives of the home. Other survivors include six sons, Steve Crossland, Overland Park, Michael Crossland, Atchison, Jay Crossland, Tonganoxie, Charles Crossland, Atchison, Clarence Trainer, stationed with the Marines at Camp Pendleton, Calif., and Justin Trainer of the home; one daughter, Lynn Graddick, Daphine, Ala.; one stepson, Gordon Trainer, Atchison; three stepdaughters, Jenny Page, Boyle, Samantha Cherrito, Kansas City, Mo., and Kelly Dyer, Atchison; four brothers, Merle Noll, Savannah, Mo., Charles Noll, Nortonville, Daryl Noll, New Orleans, and Richard Noll, Leavenworth; two sisters, Joyce Gipple, Trinidad, Colo., and Glenda Moffatt, Wellington, Fla.; 20 grandchildren and step-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Trainer was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Noll. Mass of Christian Burial was Aug. 4 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Mooney Creek. Burial was in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Corpus Christi Cemetery or the Altar Society of the church. The O'Trimble Funeral Home in Nortonville was in charge of arrangements. Robert Turner Robert Lee Turner, 91, Tonganoxie, died July 19, 2008, at the Tonganoxie Nursing Center. He was born Aug. 1, 1916, the son of Robert E. and Agnes Trapp Turner in Oskaloosa. He was a graduate of Kansas State University. He married Winifred Kimmel, McLouth, Sept. 7, 1946, who survives of the home. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Oskaloosa, and worked as a placement specialist for the Kansas Division Of Employment, Lawrence. Other survivors include one son, Robert D. Turner, Topeka; two daughters, Karen Pence, Manhattan, and Sandra Turner, Topeka; one brother, James Turner, Winchester; and a sister, Irene McPherson, Oskaloosa. The funeral service was July 25 at the First Congregational Church, Tonganoxie. Burial was in Hubbel Hill Cemetery, Tonganoxie. The family suggests memorials to the Tonganoxie Library or the Tonganoxie Historical Society. Quisenberry Funeral Home, Tonganoxie, was in charge of arrangements. Glen Eickmann Glen "Pete" Eickmann, 79, Ozawkie, died July 29, 2008. He was born in Chester, Neb., May 21, 1929, to Charley Eickmann and Nora Rieke Eickmann. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad out of Marysville. In 1987 he was elected as general chairman for the United Transportation Union where he served until his retirement in 1998. He married Ruby Horak May 29, 1955, in Munden. She survives of the home. He was a member of the Ozawkie United Methodist Church, Ozawkie, American Legion Post No. 163, Marysville, Belleville Masonic Lodge No. 129 AF&AM, Belleville. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Samantha Eickmann, four brothers, Oland Eickmann, Frederick Eickmann, and Bill Eickmann, Howard Eickmann. Other survivors include two sons, Bruce Eickmann, Basehor, and Kevin Eickmann, Cincinnati, Ohio; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Arlene Mohr-Howland, Topeka; and one brother, Keith Eickmann, Superior, Neb. Funeral services were Aug. 1 at the First United Methodist Church, Belleville. Burial was in the Belleville Cemetery, Belleville, Kansas. Masonic graveside services were conducted by Belleville Masonic Lodge No. 129 AF& AM. Memorials can be made to the Jefferson County Hospice or the Ozawkie United Methodist Church. Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, was in charge of arrangements. Harriet Reid Harriet Ann Reid, 85, Topeka, formerly of Atchison and Nortonville, died Aug. 3, 2008, at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka. Harriet Ann Sharp was born Sept. 19, 1922, at Burlington Junction, Mo., the daughter of Earl F. and Anna Belle Cornell Sharp. She married Glen Reid July 11, 1942, in Atchison. Together they owned and operated Reid Auto Service in Atchison for many years, until Glen retired in 1981. He preceded her in death Sept. 16, 2007. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Rosella Sharp Niemann. Mrs. Reid was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Nortonville. She is survived by three children, Janet Straub, Topeka; Steve Reid, Newton; and Phil Reid, Basehor; one sister, Dorothy Moore, Lynden, Wash.; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services were Aug. 6 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Nortonville. Burial was in the Nortonville Cemetery. Memorials can be made to St. Matthew Lutheran Church or the American Heart Association. Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, Atchison, was in charge of arrangements. Richard Boatright Richard H. "Rich" Boatright, 58, Mayetta, formerly of Topeka and Meriden, died Aug. 3, 2008, at Stormont-Vail Hospital emergency room in Topeka. He was born May 7, 1950, at Dallas, Texas, the son of Joe R. and Evelyn Lorraine Lincoln Boatright. He had lived in Mayetta for three years moving from Topeka. Mr. Boatright worked as a delivery driver for Federal Express in Topeka and had formerly worked as a road grader operator for Jackson County. He was a member of the Sons of The American Legion of Post No. 400 in Topeka and a member of the American Legion Riders. He attended Seaman Public Schools and was a 1970 graduate of Trinity High School in Euless, Texas. He married Betty Ann Dinger Streeter Dec. 1, 2007, at Topeka. She survives at the home. He is also survived by his mother, Evelen L. Boatright, Topeka; two sons, Rick Boatright, Arlington, Texas, and Bobby Boatright, Gainesville, Texas; two stepsons, Jamie Lee Streeter, Mayetta, and Jeffrey Streeter, Topeka; two step-daughters, Rhonda Lynn Sawyer, Mayetta, and Nikki Streeter; two brothers, Joe Boatright, Meriden, and Phillip Boatright, Topeka; a sister, Mary Boatright, Topeka; and nine grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Aug. 7 at Barnett-Chapel Oaks Meriden Chapel. Burial will be at Meriden Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Richard H. Boatright Memorial Fund and sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 331, Meriden, 66512. William Roberson William K. "Junior" Roberson, 82, Oskaloosa, formerly of Perry, died July 28, 2008, at the Hickory Pointe Care Center. He was born March 14, 1926, at Lynchburg, Va., the son of William K. Sr. and Mary Katherine Lerner Roberson. He worked as a tire builder for the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in Topeka for 33 years before his retirement, and was formerly a truck driver in Virginia. He was a member of the United Rubber Workers Union local in Topeka and was a member of the Williamstown Assembly of God Church. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving from 1944 to 1946. He married Peggy Mae Dobyns Nov. 1, 1947, at Chesterfield, S.C. She preceded him in death Jan. 28, 1999. Survivors include two sons, Richard A. Roberson, Ozawkie, and Ed Roberson, Oskaloosa; two daughters, Cynthia Stansell, Lecompton, and Norrice R. Myrick, Topeka; two brothers, Hollis Roberson, Richamond, Va., and Howard Roberson, Falls Church, Va.; two sisters, Helen Jamerson, Lynchburg, Va., and Nita Mason, Vinton, Va.; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by two grandsons, Joshua Roberson and Gerald Herman; three brothers, Clarence Roberson, Thomas Roberson, and Phillip Roberson; four sisters, Shirley Miller, June Calnen, Mary Kennedy, and Ann Marsh. Funeral services were Aug. 2 at Barnett-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Oskaloosa. Burial followed at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Perry. Memorials can be made to the residents' activity fund of Hickory Pointe Care Center and sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 416, Oskaloosa, 66066.
