Karen Bartlett

Karen Bartlett, 57, McLouth, died Feb. 7, 2008, at the Jefferson County Memorial Geriatric Center. Born July 10, l950, in Kansas City, she was the first child of Raymond and Lela Thomas.

At the age of 9, she moved with her family to a farm at Basehor.

Suvivors include her husband, Vern “Butch” Bartlett III; a son, Dwain Porter; a stepson, Vern “Skeeter” Bartlett IV; her parents; sisters, Pam Freeman, Janet Atkins, and Cindy Whited; and a brother, Brian Thomas.

Karen was the owner of several restaurants which featured home-style cooking such as biscuits and gravy, fried chicken, hot rolls, and fresh-baked pies. People came from surrounding counties to eat at Bartlett’s Fried Chicken, Harvest House, and Porter House Restaurants. She supported community groups and was a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 9271.

Funeral services were Feb. 11 at the Church of the Nazarene in McLouth. Burial was at the Wildhorse Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Jefferson County Hospice and sent in care of Barnett-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, P. O. Box 416, Oskaloosa, 66066.

Glen Bolz

A graveside memorial service for Glen LeRoy Bolz will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at the Muddy Creek Cemetery.

Mr. Bolz died Feb. 1, 2008, at Overland Park and is survived by a sister, Eva Mae Bolz, Topeka.

Memorials can be made to Odyssey Hospice or to Muddy Creek Cemetery and sent to Mercer Funeral Home, 810 Broadway, Valley Falls, 66088.

Ardith G. Rinehart

Ardith G. Rinehart, 79, Topeka, died Feb. 9, 2008, at Topeka Presbyterian Manor. She was born May 14, 1928, at Frankfort, the daughter of John Eugene and Geneva Hattie Gibson Farrell.

She graduated from Frankfort High School. She worked as a production liner for Josten’s American Yearbook for 20 years. She was a member of St. Aloysius Church, Meriden. She belonged to Good Sam Camping Club and often camped at Kenwood Park, Lalaferia, Texas. She also was a member of TOPPS, VFW Auxiliary, and 96th Bomb Group Association.

She married William Randall Rinehart Sept. 28, 1946, at Seneca. He preceded her in death in 1999. Survivors include a son, Edward “Ed” Rinehart, Shawnee; three daughters, Beth White, Lawrence, and Randi Walters and Nancy Mergen, both of Topeka; a sister, Dorothy Kinney, Topeka; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, John T. Farrell and George L. Farrell.

Mass of Christian Burial was Feb. 12 at St. Aloysius Church. Burial was at St. Aloysius Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Topeka Rescue Mission or Alzheimer’s Association and sent in care of the Barnett- Chapel Oaks Funeral Chapel, PO Box 331, Meriden, 66512.

Linda Raaf

Linda Kay Raaf, 64, Holton, died Feb. 9, 2008, at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. She was born Feb. 18, 1943, in Burlington, the daughter of Marvin Hilton and Adah Katherine Martin Bentley.

She married Ralph Raaf May 26, 1961. He survives of the home. Other survivors include children, Tony Raaf, Holton, and Cindy Delfelder, Meriden; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Jim Smith; a brother, Rocky; and a stepbrother, Terry; a sister, Barb Jenson; step-sisters, Merry Burke and Sherry Zibell; and stepbrother, Gerry Smith.

Services were Feb. 13 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Interment was in Holton Cemetery. Memorials can be given to the American Lung Association and sent in care of the funeral home, Box 270, Holton, 66436.
