Wagner resigns from Jeff. County appraiser post

by Kenneth Lassiter

County appraiser Kathy Wagner has resigned her position.

Wagner met with county commissioners Monday to discuss her resignation, which will be effective April 9.

Wagner said Tuesday she has taken a deputy appraiser position in Barton County. She said she has family in the area, which is one of the driving factors for the decision.

“I started my career back in Dodge City, and I had an opportunity to move back that way and took it,” she said. Wagner was appointed county appraiser in August 2005.

Wagner said the decision was made recently and wasn’t an easy one to make.

“It didn’t come easy,” she said. “I’ve got a very good staff here and worked well with all the department heads. The public was also really good to work with here. I know where I’m going there’s good staff, too, but it’s hard to leave this staff behind.”
