JCN superintendent garners high honor
Having demonstrated over time her support for educational theater at Jefferson County North High School, Denise Jennings, Jefferson County North USD 339 superintendent, has been named an Outstanding Administrator for 2013-2014 by the Educational Theatre Association’s board of directors.
One of only two administrators worldwide and the first from Kansas to be recognized by the ETA board as an Outstanding Administrator, Jennings will receive her award during the International Thespian Festival June 23-29 in Lincoln, Neb. She will be joined on the University of Nebraska campus by JCN junior Rylie Farrar, who will be attending the festival courtesy of a Doug Finney Festival Grant, and Jennifer Morgan-Beuchat, JCN speech and drama instructor.
“It’s quite a privilege to represent what I think is an outstanding district,” Jennings said Friday afternoon. “It (the award) was a surprise and an honor.”
According to Morgan-Beuchat, the decision to give Jennings the award was based on “her history of recognition, encouragement and promotion” of educational theater at JCN.
The ETA board is the governing body of the International Thespian Society.
