Budget decisions loom for county commission

The county commissioners had a light workload at their meeting on Monday. Three department heads met with the commission to discuss an assortment of matters.

Road Superintendent Francis Hubbard reported on a traffic count that was conducted on Mooney Creek Road from 162nd Street to Wise Road, which is being used as an unofficial detour.

Hubbard said the average speed of the vehicles was 35.8 mph. A combination of excessive speed and quantity of traffic has beaten that stretch of road flat. Hubbard expects road work to continue until late September or early October.
