Two 1st place finishes for county thinclads at state meet

Jefferson County competitors came home with two first-place awards from the state track meet at Wichita May 24 and 25.

Heather Polson, Jefferson County North, placed first in the high jump in 2A and the 4A Perry-Lecompton relay team won the 4×400-meter relay. Team members were Colin Coleman, Riley Davis, Seth Surface, and William Hinrichsen.

3200m run: 12th, Carissa McAfee, Jefferson County North.

4x800m relay: 13th, JCN, Carissa McAfee, Laramie Leakey, Jordyne Mize, Amanda Wistuba.

High jump: 1st, Heather Polson, JCN.

Long jump: 11th, Summer Cerny, McLouth.

Triple jump: 11th, Lauryn Baker, JCN.

Shot put: 13th, Kaitlyn Hullinger, McLouth.

Discus: 10th, Nicole Kruse, Oskaloosa.


1600m run: 7th, Dallas Edwards, JCN.

3200m run: 12th, Devon Wilson, JCN.

Long jump: 14th, Justin Sharp, Oskaloosa.

Triple jump: 11th, Sharp, OS; 15th, Bryce Noll, JCN.

Discus: 9th, Luke Pyle, JCN.

Javelin, 4th, Pyle, JCN.

Making the team ranking were the JCN girls, 22nd, and boys, 29th.


Jefferson County competitors at state 4A competition:


Pole vault: 12th, Kendal Holloman, Jefferson West.

300m hurdles: 8th, Emma Taylor, Perry-Lecompton.

Javelin: 13th, Taylor Fuller, PL.


High jump: 10th, Sean McMahon, JW.

Long jump: 9th, William Hinrichsen, PL.

4x100m relay: 7th, Perry-Lecompton, Cody Williams, Riley Davis, Colin Coleman, William Hinrichsen.

4x400m relay: 1st, Perry-Lecompton, Coleman, Davis, Seth Surface, and Hinrichsen.

4x400m dash: 3rd, Colin Coleman, PL.

The boys’ Perry-Lecompton team ranked 15th at state. The girls were 41st.
