Family nurse practitioner completes doctorate

Lorene “Renie” Lucille Noll-Stephan, Advanced Practice Registered Nurse-Certified, a Family Nurse Practitioner at McLouth Medical Clinic, has completed the requirements for the Doctor of Nursing Practice at the University of Kansas Medical Center, School of Nursing in Kansas City. She will participate in the university hooding at the Lied Center in Lawrence May 18.

Dr. Stephan has been a primary health care provider at McLouth Medical Clinic since 2001 when she reopened the practice with her sister, Cecilia “CeCe” Noll, APRN-C. The clinic became affiliated with Lawrence Memorial Hospital in 2007.CeCe now practices in Austin, Texas.

Stephan also practices at the Women’s Health Clinic and volunteers her time at the Jerry White Family Care Clinic for the underserved at the Jefferson County Health Department, Oskaloosa.

She was born at the F.W. Huston Medical Center, Winchester, delivered by the late Dr. Robert R. Snook. She practices in the same clinic that he practiced in from the late 1950s through the 1980s. She is the daughter of the late Lloyd and Norma E. Noll, rural Winchester.

Stephan graduated from Jefferson County North High School in 1979. She graduated from Kansas City Community College in 1988 with an associate degree in nursing. She graduated from Fort Hays State University in 1996 with a bachelor’s degree in nursing. In 1998, she graduated from the University of Kansas Medical Center, School of Nursing with a master’s degree in nursing as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Practitioner.

She has maintained her Family Nurse Practitioner certification through the American Nurses Credentialing Center by being a preceptor for nurse practitioner students every year for the last 15 years. She continues to keep her certification current by participating in multiple areas of practice and educational courses that are required by the national certifying guidelines of the ANCC.

“Renie” has lived in rural Winchester on her paternal great-grandparents’ original homestead since 1990. She is married to Michael T. Stephan Sr., an inspector and draftsman for the McAfee Henderson Solutions Civil Engineering Firm in Oskaloosa. They have three children, Michael Jr., Austin, and Abigail.

Michael Jr., a 2008 graduate of JCN High School, is a freelance videographer and photographer. He has worked for several television shows that have aired on the Outdoor Channel. Austin, a 2010 graduate of JCN High School, lives in Winchester and helps out relatives, friends, and neighbors with odd jobs when needed. Abigail, a 2012 graduate of JCN High School, has just completed her sophomore year at Fort Hays State University. She is majoring in interior design.
