Hugh Brizendine

Hugh R. Brizendine, 79, died Aug. 31, 2012, at North Kansas City hospital. He was born March 15, 1933, in Jamestown, Mo., to Isaac and Maude Borts Brizendine. He graduated from Jamestown High school and attended Missouri Western in Saint Joseph, Mo.He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean and Vietnam wars and retired as a chief petty officer.

He worked for KCP&L as a maintenance forman and retired in 1994.

He married Marilyn Northern May 12, 1995, in Liberty, Mo. She survives of the home.

Hugh was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters and a step-son, William M. Timm.

Other survivors include his children, Pamela Lee, California, Mo., David Brizendine, Olathe, Michael Brizendine, Kansas City, Mo., Randy Brizendine, Independence, Mo.; Julia Needham, Valley Falls; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; One and a brother, Arnold Brizendine, Hot Springs Ark.

A visitation was held at 10 a.m. Sept. 5 at Rollins Funeral Home in Platte City followed by an 11 a.m. funeral service. Interment, with military honors, followed in the Platte City Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to the American Lung Association, Disabled American Veterans or The Salvation Army.
