Joseph Prokop

Joseph A. Prokop, 75, Prairie Grove, Ark., previously of Meriden, died Aug. 3, 2012.He was born June 13, 1937, at Friend, Neb., the son of Joseph J. and Helen Rosalie Sabotka Prokop.

He married Mary Alice Kesselring-Allen May 4, 1957, in Long Beach, Calif. He married Edna M. Jordan-Bowers Sept. 13, 1986, in Oskaloosa.

He was a lifelong mechanic, owning his own shop, working for Enron in California and Laird-Nollar Ford, Topeka, as well having a military career in the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy.

He was preceded in death by an infant brother, William Prokop; sister, Bonnie Jaramillo; and infant great-grandson, Alex Peters.

He is survived by his wife of the home; a brother, Ronald Prokop, of Utah; sister, Patricia Sillva, San Diego, Calif.; children, Penny Prokop and Ronnie Prokop, Topeka; Sandy Barber, Wakefield; stepchildren, Marilyn Connolly and Carolyn Peters, Onaga, Kathy Montgomery, Jefferson County, Ken Bowers, Holton, and Angel Rupp, Valley Falls; 18 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

He has been cremated and a private family service will be at a later date.
