Gregory Rankin

Gregory Allen “Greg” Rankin, 63, Oskaloosa, died Aug. 17, 2012, from injuries in a motorcycle accident three miles south of Oskaloosa on U.S. Highway 59.He was born March 3, 1949, at Ft. Leavenworth, the son of Richard Randolph and Maxine Virginia Harker Rankin.He was a 1967 graduate of Oskaloosa High School and attended Emporia State University.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Vietnam era, and was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska.

Mr. Rankin worked as a delivery driver for Alex R. Masson Wholesale Plant Co., Linwood, for several years. He also worked at the Garage Door Group in Lawrence and formerly had worked at the Sunflower Ordnance Plant in DeSoto.

He attended the Countryside Baptist Church of McLouth.

He is survived by his mother, Maxine V. Ready, Oskaloosa; two sons, Jared Rankin, Gardner, and Levi Rankin, Ozawkie; one brother, Ronnie Rankin, Dade City, Fla.; one sister, Jewell Middaugh, Liberty, Mo.; and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Barnett Family Funeral Home in Oskaloosa. Burial was at the Fowler Cemetery, McLouth.

Memorials are suggested to the Jefferson County Humane Society and sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 602, Oskaloosa, 66066.
