Western museum recieves donated items

Several new items have been added to the Western Jefferson County Museum located in the State Bank of Denison at Meriden.

They include 17 copies of the Kansas Historical Quarterly magazine 1936 to 1969 donated By Pat Law, Meriden; history of the Joseph Kane Store that once stood in Rock Creek, along with a photo of the 1922 Rock Creek High School basketball team, and other Rock Creek photos donated by John Kane, Topeka; Meriden High School Yearbooks 1946, 1948, 1949, and a T-shirt with Meriden Rural High School print donated by Mary Boyle Skinner, Midwest City, Okla.

Two Meriden High School award pins and two 4-H pins, a blank Meriden State Bank counter check, copies of two newly discovered photos of Meriden’s Main street circa 1890, all donated by Gloria Clark Woerle, Rossville, Tenn.

A 1984 auction sale bill for the Cecil R. sims auction in Meriden; three copies of photos of the 4-H Fair held in Meriden in 1947 donated by Shirley Sims Neiberger, Valley Falls.

The museum is open during normal banking hours.
