Texas woman arrested for shipping illegal drugs

by Dennis Sharkey

A Texas woman is sitting in Jefferson County Jail after allegedly mailing hallucinogenic mushrooms to an Ozawkie address.

Jolene M. Reinhart, 28, El Paso Texas, was arrested on Monday, June 4, by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department.

Sheriff Jeff Herrig said about 340 grams of mushrooms were shipped via FedEx from Texas to an address in Ozawkie with Reinhart listed as the recipient.

Herrig said his office was contacted by the KBI after officials at FedEx contacted authorities about the package.

After authorities seized the package a fake delivery was set up. Herrig said a police officer dressed as a Fed Ex driver made the delivery before Reinhart was arrested.

Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 19 and she is being held on a $50,000 commercial or surety bond.

Reinhart is being charged with possession of the mushrooms, possession of drug paraphernalia, no tax stamps and profiting from drug sales.
