Douglas Oakson

Douglas Allen Oakson, aka, “Floyd Sly,” 56, Linwood, died June 13, 2012, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born Aug. 16, 1955, at Lawrence, the son of Dale Ray and Delores Marie Schuetz Oakson.

He worked as a brick layer through the International Brick Layers and Allied Craftworkers Union Local No. 15 of Kansas City, Mo., retiring with disability in 2010.

He was a member of the Tonganoxie Evangelical Friends Church and a supporter of Bikers Against Child Abuse.

Survivors include his loved one, Linda Ashworth, Linwood; his father, Dale R. Oakson, Topeka; two stepdaughters, Amy Knipp and Misty Wyrick, both of Independence, Mo.; two sisters, Debbie Oakson Sheals, Columbia, Mo., and Dianna Marie Freeman, Gladstone, Mo.; two stepbrothers, Michael Allen Brown, Conroe, Texas, and Christopher Scott Brown, Palo Verdes, Calif. ; and seven stepgrandchildren.

A Celebration of Life memorial service was held June 16 Barnett Family Funeral Home, Oskaloosa.
