Joseph Raya

Joseph Raya, 55, McLouth, died May 13, 2012, at his home.

He was born May 3, 1957, at Kansas City, Mo., the son of Clemente and Ramona Ramirez Raya.

He was a 1975 graduate of high school and attended Penn Valley Community College in Kansas City. He worked as a custodian at the Con -Agra Company in Kansas City for over 16 years until being medically disabled. He had also worked as a steel worker for many years.

He married Janice Elaine Troupe Aug. 10, 1999 at Las Vegas, Nevada. She survives at home.

He is also survived by his father, Clemente Raya, Kansas City, Mo.; one son, Joseph Raya III, McLouth; a stepson, Jeremiah McCowan, McLouth; a daughter, Marissa Nicole Raya, McLouth; three stepdaughters, Krystal Lash and Shauna McCowan, both McLouth, and Tina Moffet, Oskaloosa; five brothers, Clemente Raya, Lewis Raya, and Porfurio Raya, all of Kansas City, Mo., and Mark Raya and Roman Raya, both of Lee’s Summit, Mo.; and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Catrina Raya.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, May 18, at the family home in McLouth.
