Earl Swanner

Earl Wesley “Bill” Swanner, 85, Lawrence, died May 16, 2012, at Hickory Pointe Care & Rehabilitation Center in Oskaloosa.

He was born June 24, 1926, in Ottawa, the son of John Wesley and Marvel Elisabeth Stebbins Swanner.

He was raised on a farm, then worked in construction and worked in welding before he retired.

He married Lila Baysinger July 28, 1945, in Hutchinson. She preceded him in death July 31, 2010.

Survivors include three daughters, Rita Hardesty, Oskaloosa, Jo Fietkau, Lee’s Summit, Mo., and Jan Klienow, Edwardsville; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Lowe, Emporia.

He was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Marvel CiAnne, and a sister, Marie Roehrman.

Memorial services were May 19 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Burial will be held at a later date at Hartford Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to the Kansas Specialty Dog Service and sent in care of the mortuary.
