Francys Nolting

Francys Ruth Nolting, 83, Nortonville, died April 18, 2012, at the Golden Living Center, Lansing.

Francys R. Zeek was born Dec. 6, 1928, in Nortonville, the daughter of E.R. and Ruth Stephan Zeek. She attended the Farmington Grade School and graduated from Effingham High School in 1946.

She received a teaching certificate and taught at the Camp Creek Country School for one year.

She married Manfred H. Nolting Feb. 27, 1947, in Nortonville. He survives of the home.

After raising her family she went back to work as secretary for the St. Matthew Church for three years. She then worked as a payroll clerk for Stevenson’s Roof and Sheet Metal. In September 1970 she worked as a personnel clerk for the Kansas State Penitentiary at Lansing, then in June of 1971 she moved to Ft. Leavenworth as a clerk and later administrative assistant for the NAF Personnel Branch. she retired in 1984. She had also worked at Mullins Hardware and a credit union.

She was a member of the St. Matthew Lutheran Church, served as church organist, and taught Saturday school.

Other survivors include two sons, Timothy Nolting, Bushnell, Neb., and Martin Nolting, Longmont, Colo.; five daughters, Carol Nolting, Kansas City, Mo., Linda Burleson, Henrietta, Texas, Penny Samuels, Floyd Knob, Ind., Jenny Chmidling, Lansing, and Marcy Noll, Nortonville; a brother, Eldred R. “Bud” Zeek, Phoenix, Ariz.; a sister, Billie Louise McClure, Burlingame; 17 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

A brother, Joseph Zeek, and sister, Doreen F. Halacy, preceded her in death.

Funeral services were April 23 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Nortonville. Burial was in the Nortonville Cemetery.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Jefferson County Home Health or the St. Matthew Lutheran Church.

Becker-Dyer-Stanton & O’Trimble Funeral Chapel, Nortonville, were in charge of arrangements.
