Emily Corkadel

Emily H. Corkadel, 95, Topeka, died April 1, 2012, at Aldersgate Village.

She was born Jan. 19, 1917, the oldest of three children of James A. and Nell M. Neel. She attended a one-room school and graduated from Winchester High School. She then taught in a one-room school for several years and in later years was a substitute teacher for Unified District 501. She was a bookkeeper for 20 years.

She married Clarence Corkadel Dec. 7, 1945, in Atchison. They lived in Topeka their entire married life. He preceeded her in death May 15, 2001.

She was a member of Northland Christian Church.

Survivors include one sister, Doris Shockley, Tonganoxie. A sister, Mildred Fritz, preceeded her in death.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 5, at Northland Christian Church. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. at Valley Falls Cemetery.

She was to lie in state after 3 p.m. Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave., Topeka, where the family received friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
