Ronald Reed

Ronald Charles “Ron” Reed, 73, Oskaloosa, died March 8, 2012, at his home after a long battle with multiple myeloma.

He was born Feb. 6, 1939, in Douglas County, the son of Woodrow Wilson and Pearl Marie Belles Reed.

A 1956 graduate of Overbrook High School, he worked at Hallmark Co. in Lawrence, retiring in 1996 after 38 years. He also farmed in the Oskaloosa area for over 50 years.

He was a member of the Oskaloosa United Methodist Church and was a longtime Boy Scout leader in Oskaloosa. He was also longtime 4-H leader for the Jolly Juniors 4-H Club in Oskaloosa.

He married Nancy Jane Means June 7, 1959, at Oskaloosa. She survives at the home.

He is also survived by one son, Charles Reed, Lawrence; one daughter, Ronda Schuler, Oskaloosa; one brother, Emmitt Reed, Lawrence; one sister, Shirley Brown, Topeka; and four grandsons.

He was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Woodrow Reed.

Funeral services were March 12 at the Oskaloosa United Methodist Church. Burial was at the Pleasant View Cemetery in Oskaloosa.
