Jeanette Gronniger

Jeanette A. Gronniger, 91, Denton, died March 24, 2012, at the Dooley Center at Mt. St. Scholastica, Atchison.

Jeanette Bunck was born April 26, 1920, in Everest, the daughter of William and Anna Hrnchir Bunck. She spent her entire life in the rural areas around Everest and Denton.

She married Matthew B. Gronniger Oct. 24, 1946, in Everest. He preceded her in death Dec. 1, 1987.

She worked as a cook for USD No. 433 School District for several years. She was a member of St. Benedict’s Church and Altar Society, and the Town & Country Home Unit.

She is survived by two sons, Jerry Gronniger, Bonner Springs, and Bill Gronniger, Savannah, Mo.; three daughters, Judy Hannah, Beaumont, Calif., Karen Heinen, Valley Falls, and Rita Tharp, Lenexa; one sister, Sr. Mary Margaret Bunck, Mt. St. Scholastica, Atchison; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Albert, Edward, and William Bunck, and one sister, Alma Cavanaugh.

Mass of Christian Burial was at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 28, at St. Benedict’s Church, Bendena. Burial followed in St. Benedict’s Cemetery, Bendena.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Mt. St. Scholastica and Friends of Hospice of Jefferson County and can be sent in care of the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home.
