Richard Jeffries Sr.

Richard Daniel “Rick” Jeffries, Sr, 62, Valley Falls, passed away Monday, Feb. 13, 2012, at his home.

He was born on March 27, 1949, in Franklin, VA, the son of Elmer Hollis and Lois Marie Collins Jeffries.

Rick worked at many jobs through out his life. He was a taxi cab driver, ambulance driver, a cable installer, a concrete truck driver for Baker Ready Mix and Quarry. He worked with brother-in-laws and nephews as a concrete finisher. Rick traveled across the country working for a cleaning service on military bases.

He married Bonnie Harris in May 1967. They divorced. He married Sandra Driscoll Porter in March 1979. They divorced. He married Ronda Roxane Darveaux on Sept. 14, 1993, at Chincoteague Island, VA. She survives of the home.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Claudia Payne and Louise Knapp.

Survivors also include a son, Richard Daniel Jeffries, Jr. Leavenworth; a daughter, Claudia Denice Jeffries Larkin, Lansing; four sisters, Lois Ann (John) Hewitt, Juanita (Dale) Meyer, and Sheila Marie (David) Eaton, all of Valley Falls, and Roberta Vasquez, Topeka; five grandchildren, Hope Lyn, Richard Daniel III, Michel Lee, Dean Isaac and Alyssa Marie; sister-in-law, Melody (Colt) Conser, Valley Falls; and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012, at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls. Burial will follow at the Winchester-Wise Cemetery.
