Charles Layton
Charles E. Layton, 81, Tonganoxie, died Feb. 8, 2012, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Kansas City, Mo.
He was born July 13, 1930, in Bloomfield, Mo., the son of Edward and Edith Russell Layton. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
He married Betty Conners Nov. 27, 1952, in Huntington, W.V. He was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Kansas City for 30 years.
He was a member of the First Baptist Chuch at McLouth.
Survivors include his wife, Betty, of the home; two daughters, Karen Anne Watkins, Pleasant Valley, Mo., and Melinda Leigh Jennings, Austin, Texas; two sisters, Dorothy L. White, Bloomfield, Mo., and Virginia Cosley, Dexter, Mo.; two grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Funeral services were Feb. 13 at the Quisenberry Funeral Home, Tonganoxie. Burial was in the National Cemetery at Leavenworth.
Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church of McLouth.
Quisenberry Funeral Home, Tonganoxie was in charge of arrangements.
