LaFurn Ellen Colhouer, 91, Valley Falls, died Jan. 14, 2012, at Linnwood Home Plus care facility in Valley Falls.
She was born Sept. 17, 1920, at Meriden, the daughter of John and Ethel May Seever Knowlton. She graduated from Rock Creek High School.
She had been the operations manager at the Kendall State Bank, Valley Falls, and prior to that at the former Citizens State Bank of Valley Falls. She had been a substitute school teacher and a bookkeeper for the McBride Hatchery in Rock Creek.
She was a member of the Valley Falls United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, Rebekah Lodge No. 652, Blue Mound Grange, Blue Mound Sunshine Club, a Blue Mound 4-H Club leader, and the Kanza Club.
She married Raymond H. Colhouer Oct. 15, 1938, at Oskaloosa. He died Nov. 12, 2003. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Roy Knowlton, and a grandson, Alan Huston.
Survivors include two daughters, June Huston and Geraldine Metzger and her husband, Terry; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
The funeral service was Jan. 17 at the Valley Falls United Methodist Church. Burial was at the Valley Falls Cemetery.
