Smashed mailboxes reported in area

Someone took a ball bat to several mailboxes over the weekend, reports Lt. Robert Poppa of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s office.

Reports of smashed mailboxes come from 170th street, five on Coal Creek Road, and one in the city of Valley Falls.

It’s believed most of the damage occurred between 11 and 11:30 p.m. Nov. 26.

Sheriff’s officers are looking for an older model vehicle with a loud muffler, but other clues at this time are scarce, Poppa said.

He would appreciate anyone with information that might help the investigation to call the sheriff’s department dispatch personnel.
