Mary Stice

Mary Joan Stice, 81, Parkville, Mo., died Dec. 13, 2011.

She was born Aug. 10, 1930, in Chicago, Ill., to Thomas A. and Very Iorns Pauly. The family moved to San Diego, Calif. After graduation from Kearny High School, she completed her education to become a dental assistant.

It was in San Diego that she met her future husband, Harold D. Stice Sr., who was based there while in the Navy. He preceded her in death.

They moved to Herington and later to Kansas City and then rural Lawrence.

She was also preceded in death by her brothers, James Pauly, David Pauly and Richard Pauly, and sister Linda Lind.

She is survived by seven children: Glen Stice, Harold Stice Jr., Debbie Sturtridge, Denise King (Oskaloosa), David Stice, Denette Stice, and Warren Stice; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Thomas A. Pauly Jr., Perth, Australia.

Private family services are planned. Memorial contributions can be made to NorthCare Hospice House, 2099 Clay Edwards Drive, North Kansas City, Mo., 64116.

Barnett Family Funeral Home, Oskaloosa, is in charge of arrangements.
