Kenneth Schrick
Kenneth “Ken” Raymond Schrick, 66, Mooney Creek, went to his eternal life on Saturday, November 26, 2011, after his courageous battle with cancer. Kenneth was at home with his beloved family at his side.
Mass of Christian burial was at 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 30, 2011, at Corpus Christi Church with Fr. Jojaiah Mandagiri as Celebrant. Burial was at Corpus Christi Cemetery, Mooney Creek, KS. A Knights of Columbus rosary was held November 29th at Corpus Christi Church with visitation following. The O’Trimble Funeral Home, Nortonville, KS, is handling the arrangements.

Kenneth was born on Feb. 3rd, 1945, the son of Raymond “Ray” John and Ellen Belle (Littleton) Schrick. He graduated from the Valley Falls High School in 1963 and joined the Kansas National Guard, 130th Artillery, Horton, KS in May 1965. His unit was mobilized in April 1968. He served overseas in the Republic of South Vietnam from November 1968 until demobilization in December, 1969.
Ken worked for his father at Schrick Construction Co., Valley Falls, KS; LFM Foundry, Atchison, KS, and as a warehouseman at Fort Leavenworth, KS for 30 years until his retirement in Sept. 1996. He enjoyed farming, bird hunting, crappie fishing, trapping, old cars, drag racing, CB radios, tractor pulls, antique auto parts, swap meets, auto body repair, dirt track racing and life itself. His garage door was always open. Ken was a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Council No. 2885.
Kenneth was married to Paulette Marie Lemke on Feb. 19, 1966, at Corpus Christi Church, Mooney Creek. They enjoyed life together for forty-five loving years. She survives of the home.
Additional survivors include his mother, Ellen Schrick, Valley Falls, KS; father-in-law, Paul Lemke, Atchison, KS; a son, Ronald “Ron” Raymond (Debbie) Schrick, Valley Falls; a daughter, Jennifer Lynn (Mark Wiseman) Schrick, Nortonville, KS; a brother, Robert (Gloria) Schrick, Leawood, KS; sister, Patricia DeArmond, LaPorte, Ind.; nine grandchildren; and was blessed with great-grandchildren.
His father, Raymond Schrick; grandparents, Oscar and Sophie Schrick and Floyd and Louise Littleton; mother-in-law, Mary Lemke; and brothers-in-law, Alan Lemke and Charles “Chuck” DeArmond, preceded him in death.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the Veteran Administration of Leavenworth, and Topeka, KS, and the staff and nurses of the Jefferson County Hospice for their sincere care to Kenneth during his time of need.
