Woodward “Keith” Worthington, 77, Oskaloosa, died Dec. 24, 2011, at his home in Oskaloosa after a long fight with cancer.
He was born Oct. 24, 1934, at Perry, the son of Woodward M. “Wood” and Elsie Myer Worthington.
He was a 1952 graduate of Perry Rural High School.
He retired in 2001 from Local Union No. 101 of Equipment Operators Union and construction. He formerly owned and operated Worthington’s Apco station in Oskaloosa and operated a lawn care and cemetery care business.
He served a term as mayor and as fire chief in Oskaloosa.
He was married to Thelma Ruth Goins Nov. 7, 1953, at Perry. She preceded him in death March 31, 2006.
Survivors include one son, David Worthington, Indianapolis, Ind.; two daughters, Dianne Running, Seattle, Wash., and Patty Reynolds, Oskaloosa; one brother, Eldon “Red” Worthington, Perry; three sisters, Marilyn Tubbs, Pleasant Hill, Calif., Phyllis Spreer, Longmont, Colo., and Judy Whitney, Lawrence; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Larry Worthington and Melvin Worthington.
A Memorial Celebration of Life will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 30, at the Barnett Family Funeral Home, 1220 Walnut (Hwy. 59), Oskaloosa.
A visitation gathering will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Barnett Family Funeral Home.
