Alta Louise Evans, 78, Arkansas City, died Sept. 29, 2011, at the South Central Kansas Medical Center in Arkansas City.
Louise was born July 14, 1933, in Okmulgee, Okla., to Robert and Rosa Mayben Turley. She was reared and educated from Oklahoma to California and back to Kansas, graduating from Arkansas City High School in 1951.
She married Larry Evans Nov. 25, 1952, in Arkansas City. He survives of the home.
Louise worked in the post office, a school librarian, cleaned houses, and was a homemaker.
She followed her husband all over Kansas and Oklahoma as he was a minister for many different congregations, including the Christian Church at Valley Falls. They were in Valley Falls in the early 1960s.
They were also house parents at Cookson Hills Christian Home and School in northeastern Oklahoma for several years.
Other survivors include three sons, Mike Evans, Oklahoma City, Tim Evans, Kismet, and Mark Evans, Olathe; a foster daughter, Peggy Marshall, of Texas; three brothers, Bobby Turley, Dallas, Texas, Edward Turley, Tulsa, Okla., and Gary Turley; a sister, Nadine Hardin; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Vicky.
Funeral services were Oct. 3 at the Bible Christian Church. Burial was in the Riverview Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the Bible Christian Church. Contributions may be made through the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City.
