Perseverance pays off

McLouth senior Kendra LeachMcLouth senior Kendra Leach laughed as Head Softball Coach Ballard Patterson jokes about Leach’s path to her signing day last Wednesday, Nov. 9 at school in front of family, friends and fellow students. Leach signed a letter of intent to play softball at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

Patterson told the students in attendance that success on the diamond starts in the classroom and that each student in the program can play at the next level only if they first succeed in the classroom.

Leach’s father, Robert, told the students that his daughter set goals and never gave up even when a school counselor at a different school told her she would never play Division I softball.
