Mary Ross

Mary Virginia Ross, 89, Lawrence, formerly of Perry, died Nov. 11, 2011, at Brandon Woods care Center.

She was born Nov. 26, 1921, at Topeka, the daughter of Warren Winfield and Violet Marie Cozad Wilcox. She was a 1940 graduate of Seaman High School, Topeka.

She worked at Josten’s American Year Book in Topeka for many years and was a cook for the Perry and Perry-Lecompton High School, the Lawrence Sale Barn, and Ira Price Café in Topeka.

She was a member of the Perry United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary No. 142 in Perry.

She married Jessie Don Ross April 26, 1941, at Topeka. He preceded her in death Sept. 9, 2000.

She is survived by a son, Pat Ross, Lawrence; two daughters, Gail Robinson, Lawrence, and Sharon Cox, Ozawkie; one brother, Carl Wilcox, Springfield, Mo.; seven grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Shannon Gowing, and three brothers.

Graveside services were Nov. 16 at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Perry.
