Allan Essman

Allan Dee Essman, 76, Grantville, died Nov. 11, 2011, at Midland Hospice House in Topeka.

He was born March 30, 1935, in Scott County, Ark., to Bessie Lewis and Joseph Dee Essman. He was baptized in Jones Creek, Ark., with the Unity Baptist Church.

He served in the 300th SIG Corp Army Reserve. He worked 10 years for the 501 School District and retired from Hallmark Cards after 24 years.

He married Sonya Ketcherside July 1, 1955, in Topeka. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include three brothers, Jim Essman, Silver Lake, Dale Essman, Van Buren, Ark., and Gerald Essman, Waldron, Ark.; and three sisters, Vera Artzer, Topeka, Marilyn Johnson, Russellville, Ark., and Janice Weston, Royal, Ark.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Paula Piles.

Funeral services were Nov. 14 at Davidson Funeral Home, Topeka. Interment was in Rochester Cemetery.
