Used eyeglasses wanted by Lions Club

There will be an extra surprise for children who donate a used pair of eyeglasses at the “Trunk or Treat” car with Lions Club emblems on Halloween, reports club member Linda Durand.

October is “Sharing the Vision Month” for Lions clubs. Somewhere in the world, a person goes blind every five seconds. Last year, more than 50,000 volunteers participated, collecting 238,035 pairs of glasses.

The glasses are cleaned, repaired and delivered to people in need by Lions and Give the Gift of Sight volunteers on international missions to developing countries.

Collection boxes are also available at all times at the Delaware Township Library, Western Hardware & Auto, Kendall State Bank, Paul Heinen and Associates, Delaware Township Hall basement, and the Clothes Closet.
