John Jones

John P. Jones, 88, Wiggins, Colo., died June 11, 2011, at the Colorado Plains Medical Center, Fort Morgan, Colo.

He was born April 19, 1923, near McLouth, to Alfred and Olive Jones. He attended the Wild Horse Rural School and graduated from McLouth Rural High School in 1942.

He married Mary Virginia Heywood March 28, 1948, in the Stanwood Friends Church.

The family moved to Wiggins in 1960 where he continued in the meat cutting trade.

He is survived by his wife; daughter, Mary Ellen Mercer; sons, Tom Jones and Tim Jones, both of Wiggins, and Ed Jones, Sugarland, Texas; 15 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Hildred Stockwell, Hoyt, and Viola Edmonds, and Alfreda Ryan, all of McLouth.

Services were held in the Wiggins Community Church June 15.

A Memorial service and inurnment will be held in the Wild Horse Cemetery near McLouth at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2. This will follow the annual Homecoming at the Stanwood Friends Church.
