Commissioners interview candidates for planning director

by Dennis Sharkey

Monday was quiet around the Jefferson County Commissioners chambers during the afternoon but things were busy in the morning.

Commissioners interviewed four candidates for the planning and zoning director position. One more candidate will be interviewed next Monday.

Chairman Richard Malm said he expected to finalize a decision by the middle of next week.

Commissioners will not have a formal meeting next week because the courthouse is closed for Columbus Day. County employees will have departmental meetings and a seminar concerning a new wellness plan will be presented.

Commissioners hired Lowenthal, Webb & Odermann to conduct the county’s 2011 audit. The cost is more than $14,150.

The commissioners also met with 911 Director Susan Newell for matters of non-elected personnel.
