West golfers score another championship

The Jefferson West girls’ golf team has won its third consecutive tournament, beating second-place finisher Hayden High School by 19 strokes.

The girls competed last week at the KC-Piper Invitational competing against 11 teams and 52 girls.

Medal winners for Jefferson West were Abbie Thelen, 2nd place, Ally West, 5th place, and Jade Brake, 8th place.

Also scoring for the Tigers were Kati Richmond and Allie Deiter.

The girls took third place Monday at the Seaman High School Invitational.

Coach Larry Kennedy said the team was denied first place for the first time this season, losing to 6A Washburn Rural and 5A Shawnee Heights.

There were nine teams and 54 girls competing.

Individual medal winners on the team were Abbie Thelen, 15th place, Kati Richmond, 12th, Ally West, 5th, and Jade Brake, 4th.
