Tractor ride not passing through Winchester

The McLouth Threshing Bee annual tractor ride’s itinerary does not include a stop in Winchester this year.

Instead the ride will go through parts of Leavenworth County.

The ride is tentatively scheduled to leave McLouth at 9 a.m. on Friday Sept. 16., starting at the intersection of French and South Home streets.

The riders will travel east on K-16 Highway before turning on 251st Street. The ride will then turn onto Parallel Road and will travel on the dam at Leavenworth State Park where the first rest stop will occur. The group is expected to arrive at the park by 9:45 a.m.

The ride will turn back through McLouth and parade down Union(Main) Street before it continues down K-16 toward Oskaloosa. The ride is expected in McLouth at around 11 a.m.

The ride will arrive in Old Jefferson Town in Oskaloosa at about 11:45 a.m. and will stop for lunch that will be served by the Oskaloosa Petticoat Council.

After lunch the tractors will parade around the Oskaloosa Square before heading back down K-16 Highway to McLouth. The tractor ride will end with a parade around the threshing bee grounds. The tractors are expected back in McLouth at about 1:45 p.m.

Travelers along K-16 Highway may want to avoid the stretch between McLouth and Oskaloosa between 10:15 and 11:45 a.m. and between 1 p.m. and 1:45 p.m.

This is the third year for the tractor ride. Check-in will begin at 8 a.m. and the ride will begin at 9 a.m. The ride will benefit the Jefferson County Historical Society and the Jefferson County 4-H Scholarship Fund.
