George Sell

George J. Sell, 91, Stilwell, died Sept. 17, 2011, at St. Luke’s South Hospital, Overland Park.

He was born June 24, 1920, at Rush Center, the son of William and Clara Rose Panek Sell.

George J. SellHe married Wanema Hope Schoonover Jan. 1, 1947, in Kansas City.

He worked for Folgers Coffee Co. in Kansas City, Mo., for 36 years before retiring. He was in the U.S. Army serving during World War II. He was active in the First Baptist Church, Stilwell, helping to build a new church and volunteering his time with the caring ministry.

He was preceded in death by his his wife, Wanema, two brothers, Lee H. Sell and Lester Sell, and one sister, Deanna Cotter.

Survivors include a brother, Richard L. Sell, Wichita; two sisters, Irene M. Lichter, St. Louis, Mo., and Ethel M. Litzenberger, Denver, Colo.; and Sarah Hollis, Valley Falls, is among the surviving nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, at the First Baptist Church of Stilwell. Burial will follow in the Aubry Cemetery, Stilwell.

Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Penwell – Gabel Louisburg Chapel.

Memorial contributions can be made to the First Baptist Church.
