The following accidents were recently reported:

June 18, 10:30 a.m.: A vehicle driven by Darrell E. Fries, 83, Topeka, was traveling on K-4 Highway near 114th Street and was slowing to make a left turn when a vehicle driven by Dezarae N. Marcotte, 17, Topeka, attempted to pass Fries on the left and struck his vehicle and a fence.

July 1, 5:09 a.m.: A vehicle driven by Edward W.D. Patterson, 19, Valley Falls, was traveling at a high rate of speed on Butler Road near 114th Street when he lost control of the vehicle causing it to crash through a fence and into a telephone pole.

July 2, 9:30 p.m.: Jeremy M. Spooner was backing a truck and trailer into a driveway on Lakeshore Drive and exited the vehicle without engaging the parking brake. The vehicle and trailer rolled down the driveway and the trailer struck a tree, causing the truck and trailer to jackknife. The trailer then struck the truck.

July 3, 7 p.m.: A vehicle driven by Laura A. Rajewski, 34, Topeka, traveled off the roadway at Perry Park Drive near 39th Street and hit a sign. The vehicle then backed onto the roadway and went off the roadway again and hit two trees before reentering the roadway.

July 4, 1:08 p.m.: A vehicle driven by Gregory A. Knipp, 32, Tonganoxie, was traveling east on K-16 near Wellman Road when a trailer being towed lost its wheel causing the trailer to slide causing damage to the trailer and blacktop.

July 7, 7:45 p.m.: Mark A. Pirozzoli, 54, Topeka, was traveling along 31st Street near Decatur Road when he lost control of the vehicle and slid into a ditch coming to rest on its top.

July 8, 8:30 a.m.: Rebecca Schuppener, 59, Holton, was traveling along Coal Creek Road near 170th Street when she lost control of the vehicle trying to negotiate a curve. She was taken by ambulance to Holton Hospital.

June 9, 8 p.m.: David K. McHenry, 42, McLouth, was operating a hay swather near 126th Street and was backing up the vehicle. McHenry said he saw another person waving their hands but could not stop in time from striking a vehicle owned by Doyce G. Bates, Oskaloosa.
