Linwood Park is new name for senior group homes

by Clarke Davis

Linnwood Park is now the one name that will be used for senior group homes at Meriden and Valley Falls, reports co-owner Ken Hartle.

Previously known as LinnWood Place and Deer Park, they are all under one ownership and will now be marketed under the one name.

“There has been no change of ownership, management or staffing. This is simply a name change to ‘blend’ all the facilities under a uniform name,” Hartle said.

There are four buildings in the two towns licensed for 39 residents. There are 15 assisted living apartments and 24 units designated home plus nursing care in three buildings. The staff consists of 40 to 45 full- and part-time employees.

Hartle is in partnership with Dennis Casey, a funeral home director in Olean, N.Y.

They purchased the Valley Falls facilities five years ago from Marilyn Zieg and her husband, the late Bob Zieg. The group homes known as Deer Park were added four years ago, purchased from Gene Linton and Ellen Saling.

Hartle reports that there are always improvements being made. Two apartments have been remodeled lately and painting projects are going on in both the Meriden and Valley Falls facilities.

“We were fortunate to have zero deficiencies in the last state inspection. There were only 18 out of 400 institutions that can say that,” Hartle said. “I give the credit to our great staff.”

Linnwood Park — note the ‘w’ is no longer capitalized — will be used in logos for printing, advertising, and on the web. One phone number will also be used for the entire complex in both towns, 785-224-8023.
