L.J. “Tyke” Chrisman, 81, Easton, previously of Shawnee, died July 20, 2011.
He was born Dec. 20, 1929, at his family’s home in Bonner Springs, the second of two boys to Peg and Ellen Tinberg Chrisman.
He graduated from Bonner Springs High School and while working at the Union Pacific Railroad he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War as a medic.
He married Gertrude Bender Nov. 25, 1953. She survives of the home.
He worked at Perk Dog Food in Kansas City, then Sears and Roebuck as a salesman and later a manager where he retired in 1984.
Other survivors include three children, Steve Chrisman, Easton, Joyce Webb, Shawnee, and Valerie Lafferty, Lenexa; a brother, Walter Chrisman, Parkville, Mo.; and two grandchildren.
Services were July 26 at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Monticello Union Cemetery in Shawnee.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Shriners, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to the McLouth United Methodist Church and sent in care of the funeral home, 214 Oak Street, Bonner Springs, 66012.
