Harold Dean Wilkins

Services for Harold Dean Wilkins, 63, Perry, were July 5 at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.

Burial was in Underwood Cemetery with military honors.

Mr. Wilkins died June 30, 2011, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born Feb. 25, 1948, in Bennington, Okla., the son of George Andrew and Rena Dimple McIntyre Wilkins. He graduated from Lawrence High School in 1966. He had lived in the Lawrence area since 1963.

He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam and was a material handler at Berry Plastics.He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He married Glenda Kay Howard in August 1970 in Ottawa. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include two sons, Michael Dean Wilkins and Eric Matthew Wilkins, both Perry; brothers, Jimmy Ray Wilkins, Lawrence, and Jerry Edward Wilkins, Fayetteville, N.C.; sisters, Lorene Minyard, Brownfield, Texas, and Jewell Rogers, Galena; seven grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by brothers George Leon Wilkins, Robert Dale Wilkins, and Victor James Wilkins; and sisters, Ada Mae Walker and Nona Lee Middleton.

The family suggests memorials to the Colmery-O’Neil VA Medical Center in Topeka.
