Lenora Henderson

Lenora Maye Henderson, 88, Grantville, died May 25, 2011, at Clare Bridge Senior Living in Topeka.

She was born April 30, 1923, in Silver Lake the daughter of Alex and Lora Burks Hansford.

She worked in the supply depot at Forbes Field during World War II along with working on the family farm.

She was a member of the Grantville United Methodist Church where she served all offices of the United Methodist Women and taught Sunday school. She volunteered as a 4-H leader.

She married Clifton “Clif” Lou Henderson Sr. Nov. 13, 1942, in Topeka. He preceded her in death March 17, 2008.

She is survived by her children, Steven Henderson, Clifton Lou Henderson Jr., Curtis Henderson, Marcia Henderson, all of Topeka; a sister, Arline McGinnis, Denver; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were May 31 at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, Topeka. Interment was in Grantville Cemetery.

The family suggests contributions to the Jefferson County 4-H Foundation, Topeka Grace Hospice, or the Alzheimer’s Association sent in care of the funeral home, 800 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, 66603.
