JCN leads the pack of county teams at state track and field

The Jefferson County North Track and Field team led Jefferson County teams with place finishes at the state track and field meet in Wichita.

Sophomore Dallas Edwards placed the highest of any individual boys contestant with a 5th place finish in the 3A 3200 meter run with a time of 10:20.33. Edwards also placed 10th in the 3A 1600 meter run.

Junior Billy Noll placed 6th in the 3A 800 meter run with a time of 2:00.25.

JCN senior Spencer Wentz runs a leg of the Class 3A boys 4X400 relay. Wentz's ream placed 5th.

JCN boys relay teams also fared well. The relay team of Noll, junior Dalton Minor, senior Phillip Luetz and senior Spencer Wentz placed 5th in the 3A 4×400 meter relay. The team of Noll, Wentz, junior Brett Manville and senior Steuart Hensleigh placed 7th in the 3A 4×800 meter relay.

For the JCN girls freshman Heather Polson was the highest place fininsher. She placed 7th in the 3A high jump with a mark of 5-00.00.

Freshman Jamie Navinskey placed 8th in the 3A 200 meter dash with a time of 27.11 and placed 9th in the 3A long jump with a mark of 15-03.50.

Junior Kimberly Cooper placed 13th in the long jump with a mark of 14-10.50 and 16th in the 3A 800 meter run with a time of 2:42.83.

Freshman Mallory Kramer placed 8th in the 3A 3200 meter run with a time of 12:27.71. She also placed 11th in the 3A 1600 meter run with a time of 5:42.33.

Junior Megan Domann placed 14th in the 3A triple jump with a mark of 30-11.00.

Junior Mary Kern placed 15th in the 3A 800 meter run with a time of 2:41.98.

Jordan Miller

Oskaloosa junior Jordan Miller competes in the Class 2A shot put event. She placed 5th in the event.

Two of the girls relay teams also placed. The team of Kern, Cooper, freshman Jacee Kramer and junior Jordan Kramer placed 6th in the 3A 4×800 meter relay with a time of 10:15.98. The team of Navinskey, freshman Hannah Twenhafel, sophomore Kayla Higgins and junior Kymee Noll placed 8th in the 3A 4×100 meter relay with a time of 54.54.

Oskaloosa’s lone representative junior Jordan Miller placed 5th in the 2A girls shot put with a mark of 37-00.00 and 6th in the 2A discus throw with a mark of 118-00.

McLouth junior Chanler Tharpe was the highest individual place finisher for the Bulldogs. She placed 11th in the 3A pole vault with a mark of 8-00.00.

Sophomore Dakota Cop placed 13th in the 3A boys triple jump with a mark of 40-07.00.

Sophomore Marc Walbridge placed 15th in the 3A boys 1600 meter run with a time of 4:52.36.

Valley Falls senior Abbey Kearney placed 11th in the 2A girls high jump with a mark of 4-10.00 and 12th in the 2A triple jump with a mark of 32-06.75.

Alex Nottingham

Valley Falls senior Alex Nottingham in the 400-meter dash during preliminaries of the state track meet in Wichita.

Senior Alex Nottingham was the only Valley Falls boy with a 9th place finish in the 2A boys high jump with a mark of 5-10.00.

Jefferson West junior Marci Green placed 6th in the girls 4A shot put with a mark of 35-10.00.

Junior Carrie Finson placed 8th in the 4A girls 3200 meter run with a mark of 12:07.24.

Sophomore Kendahl Holloman placed 13th in the girls 4A pole vault with a mark of 8-00.00 for the Tigers.

Junior Addison Jones was the only place finisher for the Perry-Lecompton Kaws. He placed 15th in the 4A boys 1600 meter run with a mark of 4:47.77.
