David Mize

David W. Mize, 65, Winchester, formerly of Derby, died June 9, 2011, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born May 17, 1946, at Topeka, the son of Herbert Arnold and Roberta Maxine Canon Mize.

David W. MizeHe was a 1964 graduate of Oskaloosa High School and was a 1968 graduate of Washburn University, where he was a member and president of Alpha Delta Fraternity in 1968.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Vietnam as a staff sergeant.He was awarded two bronze stars for valor and is a recipient of the purple heart. He worked many years as a realtor and real estate broker in Derby where he was a member and past president of the Derby Jaycees and the Derby Chamber of Commerce.

He was married to Pat Milliken for over 40 years. They divorced.

He is survived by a daughter, Jennifer “Jenni” Boyle, Wichita; two brothers, Arnold Max Mize, Winchester, and Robert “LeRoy” Mize, Oskaloosa; a sister, Jacqueline “Jackie” Lee Quiett, Oskaloosa; and four grandsons.

He was preceded in death by a son, Thadd Mize.

Funeral services were June 14 at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Oskaloosa. Burial was at Pleasant View Cemetery, Oskaloosa.
