McLouth school board making moves for 2011-12 school year

McLouth USD 342 is in a period of transition but decisions about next year are being made fast.

Board members recently approved the hiring of a new elementary school principal with the input of incoming Superintendent Steve Splichal.

The choice is Mark Dodge who is currently an administrator within the DeSoto school district.

Board members also gave Splichal authority to begin the search for a new technology director. Current director Phillip Thomas submitted his resignation earlier in the school year and will be returning to native Louisiana. Board Clerk Lorie Patterson said the interviewing process will begin immediately.

The board began addressing their short term strategic plan last week. Patterson said board members are trying to prioritize projects for the next three years that include things like roofing projects and bus purchases. She said many of the items are already on the list and board members are trying to decide in which order the items will be completed.

Patterson said the list is also being looked at from a practicality standpoint and projects are being judged on merit and affordability.
