Gonzalez appointed to Capitol Authority
House Speaker Mike O’Neal named freshman Rep. Ramon Gonzalez Jr., R-Perry, to the Capitol Area Plaza Authority.
Established in 1972, the Capitol Area Plaza Authority works in conjunction with the Department of Administration to oversee the maintenance and care of the capitol area.
“Kansas has a beautiful capitol complex,” Gonzalez said. “I am happy to be a part of ensuring that future Kansans will be able to enjoy the history and pride of the capitol area.”
In January, Rep. Gonzalez replaced Rep. Lee Tafanelli, who was tapped by Gov. Brownback to serve as the Kansas Adjutant General.
Gonzalez has served as both the Perry Chief of Police and as a special investigator for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, positions that he is continuing on a part-time basis since his election as the representative of the 47th District.
“Throughout his career, Rep. Gonzalez has been dedicated to public service,” said Speaker O’Neal. “As a member of the Capitol Area Plaza Authority, he is ensuring that when Kansans visit the capitol, they will be able to take pride in more than the building.”
