The following accidents were recently reported:

April 30, 4 a.m.: Paul W. Smith, 20, Topeka, was traveling southbound on Anderson Road near 62nd Street when he failed to stop at a stop sign. Smith skidded through the intersection and struck an embankment and came to rest in a field. He was transported by Jefferson County EMS to Stormont-Vail Healthcare in Topeka.

April 30, 4:32 a.m.: Kevin D. Reed, 31, McLouth, was traveling east on 31st Street near Union Road. Trula D. Smith, 85, Tonganoxie, was traveling west on 31st Street. Both vehicles hit head-on at the crest of a hill. Smith was transported to a hospital by a friend. Reed was transported to Lawrence Memorial Hospital by ambulance with facial injuries.

May 2, 10:25 p.m.:Mikayla A. Lowe, 18, Oskaloosa, was traveling along 102nd Street near Osage Road when her vehicle left the roadway after she over corrected going around a curve. Lowe’s vehicle rolled and came to a rest on its top in the ditch.

May 5, 2 a.m.: Caleb R. Ricketts, 21, Ozawkie, was traveling on K-92 Highway near Ellsworth Road when he took evasive action to avoid a deer. Ricketts lost control of the vehicle and went into the ditch. Ricketts sustained minor injuries.

May 5, 2 p.m.: Kenneth D. Newell, 88, Ozawkie, was backing out of a stall in a parking lot on Kiowa Street in Ozawkie, when he backed into a vehicle occupied by John W. Robertson, 78, Ozawkie, who was pulling into a parking spot.

May 5, 10:33 p.m.: A vehicle reported stolen and owned by Michelle N. Biggs, Ozawkie, was found unoccupied in a ditch with air bags deployed on Ferguson Road near US 24 Highway.

May 6, 11 a.m.: Sharon K. Heston, 66, Meriden, was traveling eastbound on 62nd Street near Kincaid Drive when an unknown vehicle ran her off the road.

May 7, 12:01 a.m.: An unknown vehicle left the roadway and struck a mailbox near 94th Street and Village Greens Road.

May 8, 10:05 a.m.: Shanda L. Wyatt, 44, Meriden, was traveling on K-4 Highway and slowing down to turn onto Detlor Road when her vehicle was rear-ended by a vehicle driven by Margie H. McGuire, 78, Topeka. McGuire said when she went to hit the brakes her foot instead pushed down the accelerator. Both sustained minor injuries.
