Valley Falls USD 338 school board lets sports contracts

The Valley Falls school board approved coaching contracts for the next school term and purchased athletic equipment with it met in regular session April 11.

FootballCoaching contracts for the 2011-12 school year were offered to Lyle Smith, head cross country; Jeff Schneider, assistant high school football; Chris Hansford, assistant middle school football; Rod Bunde, head high school football; Caleb Gatzemeyer, assistant high school football; Brandon Wells, middle school head football; Lori Glissman, assistant high school volleyball; and Trista Gish, head middle school volleyball.

The board approved $2,690 for girls’ basketball uniforms for both high school and middle school teams.

Football jerseys and helmets not not exceed $8,345 was approved for the high school football team.

A contract for the maintenance director position was offered to Tom Brown, Valley Falls, starting July 1. He will replace Louie Mitchell, who has retired. Brown’s salary is on the agenda for a special board meeting at 6:30 p.m. April 26.

The special meeting will also involve discussion involving reconfiguration of administrative duties.

A trip Orlando, Fla., for the Future Business Leaders of America chapter members going to nationals was approved along with $500 from the district. The board also approved a trip to Worlds of Fun for the eighth-graders. The district will provide a bus.
