Smoke alarm alerts neighbor of fire in Valley Falls
The District 11 fire department was called to the upstairs apartment of Jason Sears and Misty Eaton at 407 1/2 Broadway in Valley Falls about 9 p.m. April 20.
An item lying too close to a heater had ignited and set off the smoke alarm.
The couple was not at home, but a neighbor heard the alarm and called 911.
Fire Chief John Gordon said he had to break the door knob to gain entrance but no other damage was done. The firefighters did not have to use the water hoses.
